Have you ever been told you are beautiful? Even if it was by a random person, someone you dont know.
What is that person's basis for comparison of beauty? What are they comparing you with to proclaim you are beautiful?
They say beauty is only skin deep, beauty is an opinion, beauty is cosmetic.
What if that complimentary person finds the most grotesque of things beautiful? does that mean their statement of the 'beauty' about your appearance is actually an insult? Unless of course you find the same things beautiful just as they do.
The word beauty in it's self is a contradiction.
One of the dictionary definitions of beauty is: "the qualities that give pleasure to the senses"
Pleasure can also be quite perverse.
In that sense is finding someone beautiful truly a perversion?
<edit>Apparently as a direct result of this picture or rather the description of it above, people now seem to have the opinion of me that i am selfish and do not know how to accept a compliment. Which is not the case.
I express myself through art, i vent through art, and the matter i vented with this piece has more to it than what you see at face value. It was a statement made to figure out why those certain people call others 'beautiful' when they do so just to get something out of it. *ahem* as a pick up line with no pathetic motive other than sex.
The above description was not made to make people think i hate them or am insulted by their compliments. so please, do not consider it so.</edit>

the picture is not one of my best works ever... but i felt a distinct need to express. so i did.
a very special thanx to ~nocturne-stock and =Sequence2-Stock for the lovely stock.
my own =Falln-Stock was also used.
damn can't you people just take a compliment!?! i mean if someone calls u beautiful, they obviousely find you attactive.. if i found out my girlfriend felt like that when i tell her shes beautiful, i'd be horrified! I mean, sure, i agree with the fact people sometimes only see beauty skin deep.. an i dont think that i'm one of those ppl...
i will accept a compliment if the complimenter knows me well enough inside and out to understand what they are talking about when a statement of beauty is made toward me. if it is simply random unknown people 'complimenting' about beauty, that statement is most often made in vain or with their own personal agenda in mind and no consideration whatsoever to the person they are making proclomations toward. sometimes the most beautiful people can be ugly and rotten inside, and sometimes the seemingly unattractive people hold more 'beauty' than that of the 'beautiful people'.
if a compliment is made with personal consderation, than by all means it is accepted. if not the statement becomes redundant.
because i choose to explore the statement of beauty in a different light rather than the mainstream focus, based on recent personal experiances, by no means makes me emo.
Yeah, I've wondered about that a lot recently, thanks for putting it into words. I had to crank up the brightness on my monitor to see the picture, but it was worth it.
but c'mon... it's a compliment!
you emo!!!!
by the way its a cool pic
